WINDOWS
Produced in 2019, the series of paintings refers to a variety of window views, through which Ilka Lemos examines the quality of separation implied by the object. In contact with Sérgio Larraín’s work, Lemos reflects on the distinction between inside and outside; what divides the intimate from the collective.
The discussion brought up by the artist precedes the pandemic scenery, emphasizing the urgency of reassessing not only our social interactions, but also the way we interact individually. It is from this tension of existing in between, in a tangle of uncertainties, that Ilka produces the series “Windows”.
